The day Alexander came into this world was the greatest moment of my life. It made me “me”. While the best moments have been every second he and I have been together, it’s been watching him and his dog Malia that show me how special a little boy he is. I will be cooking dinner and check in on Alexander and he’s hugging Malia, and saying “te amo, Malia”. He looks into her eyes and holds her head with so much love. As a father, seeing that melts my heart. It’s been a difficult past 4 years without being a regular part of Alexander’s life. Even harder this past year with zero contact. I’ve missed 4 of the first 6 years of his childhood. And with that, I’ve missed seeing my little boy showing his heart and loving his dog. I might have missed so much time with Alexander, but I’m never going to have another day go by in my life without seeing this memory live on as a physical part of me. I’ve never considered a tattoo for myself in the past. But capturing who Alexander is in my simple design and these moments of seeing him and Malia will be a part of me forever.
