EchoStar Interested in Acquiring Sirius XM?

An article in the Wall Street Journal is being widely reported online this morning. It suggests the possibility that the owner of Dish Network may be maneuvering to take control of debt ridden Sirius XM.
It bases this on the fact that Echostar has acquired a considerable portion of the satellite radio company's recent debt that will be due mid-February. The article also indicates that EchoStar may buy some additional debt that matures in May.
The WSJ piece opines that what EchoStar may find most enticing about Sirius XM is their network of terrestrial repeaters. Apparently they have wanted such a system for quite some time.
